What types of pearls are used in pearl hair pins ?

Sep 27,2023 | Sharon

Pearl hairpins

  • Freshwater pearls are natural and not as round as saltwater pearls and therefore less expensive. Freshwater pearls today are a favorite of handmade hairpin designers because of their lower cost and improved quality and availability. Some of our pearl hairpins just use freshwater pearls.

  • Shell pearls are made from the inner part of oyster shells. The substance is ground to a fine powder and then shaped to make. Shell pearls vary in quality but may be quite beautiful and much less expensive than natural pearls. on the other side, the industry’s strict quality control see to it that shell pearls will keep their color and shine and will not be affected by sweat and perfume. Indeed, they exhibit greater durability compared to cultured and freshwater pearls. Therefore, shell pearls are a very cost-effective substitute for real pearls in pearl hairpins
  • Simulated pearls are man-made, to some degree, shell pearls are also simulated pearls. Except for that they're often made from glass, plastic, and alabaster that have a pearly coating to give a similar appearance to real pearls. but they vary in quality. We usually use the plastic simulated pearls to fix the back of the flowers, for the reason that the plastic simulated pearl hole is generally big enough to take in all the copper wire, which helps the following silk thread wrapping process. Plastic-simulated pearls are used in every flower hairpins in our store, which is a detail that commonly will not be ignored by others.
